Strange and unusually solemn post...at least coming from you. Is this about yourself or someone you know?
Shorter blog, difficult subject. Not sure I can answer this so will give it a try, as I do not know that much about the porn industry.
I'll start outside the porn industry. I am a huge Carrie Underwood fan and she turned 24 last March. She has been on top of the world winning awards of all kinds. Yet at the most recent country western awards, she lost in every category she was nominated for to Taylor Swift, a young up and comer. Carrie will always have her loyal followers and fans. But she may not be on top much longer and the tide may turn away from her in an extremely short time. Carrie will still be a big star, but may never be on top again.
I do not follow the porn industry so much like Tom and others, but I know there are always fresh new faces who men are attracted to, as they are someone new who they are unfamiliar with, young, sexy, and very attractive. Lexi and Kagney come to mind, but there are many others.
Let's face it. I live in California where much is being short changed every day and cut back due to tough economic times. State workers are taking a 14% cut, and private industry workers have been cut back, furloughed or fired. California's unemployment rate is at an unprecedented 11% or more. I have seen business after business closing in Sacramento, that I have never would have expected.
As Kayden said or implied, business's or, as she calls them,
industry can spit anyone out at will. You have no protection, security, or anyone to safeguard you. It does not matter how talented you are or that you are the best (such as Kayden). It can come down to who is the most popular and profitable (and that could easiily be a new, young, and rising star).
Who is changed more? This is a tough question, but I would have to say it is more so the industry. They are facing some tough economic decisions and will act on them as need be. The girl is who she is, trying her best to be the best in an extremely competitive business.
Kayden, soon to be 24 also) has a lot of hopes based on her current movies, The 8th Day, Stewardesses, and Rawhide 2 to take her to another level and possibly adult movie awards, fortune, fame, and along with that personal happiness, a sense of self worth, gratitude and respect for the hard work she puts into a job she really enjoys. Kayden is a self expressed workaholic who would like to be loved and admired.
Life is not so easy. Recently Kayden failed an audition and her political science class she needed to complete a degree for was cancelled.
There is no guarantee that The
8th day will take off like the Pirate movies did. Adam and Eve will market it as the movie of the year, but if it doesn't do well, Kayden is bound to be disappointed, and in these tough
economic times a fifty dollar movie may not be the blockbuster so much hoped for. Personally I would pray every day that it is a hit, because I know Kayden has worked so hard to be where she is, but that remains to be seen. I would love to see Kayden win awards and get to the top, because I believe she deserves it. Though I do not believe that life at the top (Jenna Jamison) is necessarily a bowl of cherries, and JJ has already retired (though she could afford it and made a mint).
I do not believe anyone can be blamed, porn star or industry, but if I had to answer this question, I would have to say the industry. There is a fine line between facing responsibility, doing the best one can, and if that doesn't work out, to move on and not play the blame game at all. I believe in facing individual responsibility head on and not blaming someone else for my troubles. But by saying this am walking a tightrope, spinning a slender thread, or drawing a fine line around being fucked over and spit out, while someone's best work and effort is dismissed by some tough corporate decision or executive.
I am not sure if this blog is about Kayden herself or someone she knows. So this is the best answer I can give at this time. G
I don't know Carrie Underwood at all and I'm, therefore, not aware of the background or recent events upon which K2 comments. But if your going to be successful in porne youre going to have to be, at least occasionally, thick-skinned about the ever present physical and youthful opposition; determined enough to make hay whilst the sun shines. Quite what that last statment includes must be an element of self belief and the ability to maintain a fan base by which, lets face it, you make your money. But as in all markets, sometimes business can be harsh or, even, cruel.
We live in a consumer society, the inevitable result of this social contract is that it destroys that which it values. This is as true of cultural products (recording stars/moviestars/pornstars) as it is of the consumer durables we see piled in waste heaps every day, made obsolete by the latest model. Any industry that attempts to create an enduring product is marginalised and then overwhelmed by the dynamic evolving reality of the economy that we live in. Stability and endurance are values our grandparents remember and our parents forgot. The solution to this problem (if you choose to view it as a problem) is twofold. First, empowerment, through understanding the nature of the economy we are participating in. Second, in removing the barriers to industry, by lowering the cost of production and consumption. This is the hope that the internet holds, by simply connecting people in a way that allows productive relationships to form. In this environment products (physical and cultural) will be given a longevity born of connecting directly to the individual consumer.
So don't blame the industry, it is a natural evolution of the environment it operates in, but do seek to change that environment for the better (for which your blog is an excellent tool).
This is a rough topic but, really, the sex media industry is just like the "legitimate" media industry. It's about the bottom line and isn't anything personal. People who enter an entertainment medium and become hurt by rejection, lack of work, or having their fantasies get a swift kick in the ass by reality shouldn't entirely be pitied.
From one human being to another, their feelings should be understood and empathy should take over. However, the cold hard truth is: acting work is hard. It’s hard to get and hard to continue getting. If you let yourself get carried away with... well... yourself, you're bound to be let down because nothing lasts forever. There will always be new faces, new voices, new trends, and new challenges. Those who are unable to rise to those new challenges won’t last. It sucks, but it’s the nature of the beast.
Truthfully, it’s like that for pretty much any industry and not just for the employees but for the industries themselves. Take the adult film industry, for instance. If you go to Adam & Eve’s website, you can buy Kayden’s newest film, The 8th Day, for $49.95. Now I, as a consumer of porn, can either spend 50 bucks (more with shipping) on a professionally made adult film OR I can simply go to a free porn site like xtube, youporn, or redtube and see adult film clips for free, instantly. It’s up to Adam & Eve to convince me that spending 50 dollars of my hard earned money on THEIR film is better than watching free but lower quality porn online. If they can’t convince me and others LIKE me, they won’t sell jack. So, even the film industry itself has to be able to adapt to new challenges and threats.
Someone who enters any job thinking it’ll be easy and they’ll make tons of money for the rest of their lives without a struggle is usually someone who’s bound to be disappointed. It’s cold and mean, I know, but it’s the truth.
There are so many apologists on the comments section of this blog. So many guys who, with big eyes to this vastly more intimate fantasy world - replete with a dream girl who might reply to something you said (so long as it not too important and doesn't take up too much of her time) - write it's hostess a moral blank check because, well, it seems really wonderful when the beautiful people want to help you pretend you're talking to them. And with actresses in Hollywood it's the same thing, and the sex symbols in music, they all have their blogspot account-holders who think that if they succor the right way, they might be the next big hit with the dream boat. And not that they are merely standing at the front of a line to see youth and beauty, all with identical goals and expectations and everyday someone gets a leg up just by being covered with fur and hopping on four of them. Then we realize the hostess is small and empty, and the commenter's luck never develops, and at some point he will have to stop floating on niceties and find either camera equipment or access to a DVD press, and he realizes he's been thinking he's been turned on when in fact he's done nothing more than consumed the end-product of an industry, and industries are efficient and interested in the bottom line and this one is apparently so cold and cruel that it views your secret misery as acceptable because, afterall, it's miserable too - being just a machine trying to stay afloat. The cashier at Walmart, you think, may be impersonal too - but at least when you buy your toilet paper from her, you won't have to wipe your ass with your hand.
And that's when it starts. The remorse, regret, outrage at anyone who understands what is happening. Who really changed? The guy who claimed to just love beautiful women because it made him believe he was on the top of the world or the industry that has been selling youth and it's appeal from the start? And who gets blamed? The guy who fought for his mind when it stopped being his any longer, or the industry that hides itself under a post-modern perversion of the nature of economics?

More info about the wonderful country and western singer Carrie Underwood can be found at carrieunderwoodofficial.com. The site has about 8 of her music videos to watch.
Have nothing more to add to the well thought out responses to this blog. Except that when I read it, some light tears came to my eyes.
I have a degree in Economics and often think that Economics can explain the state of our world better than anything else. In fact I believe that much of what happens in the world and to each of us individually can be understood in economic terms.
But then I have to realize the heart speaks louder than that, but it doesn't have a voice. So much in the world is cruel, unjust, and heartless. So in the end I would tell Kayden to go with her heart and not her wallet. Life is tough, but love rules over riches or fame. Economics 299.
Grant,
Your "take" on Kayden's post is impressive...as a form of intellectual piracy. Let's call it soft-core plagiarism...
I, along with others, have chosen to be Kayden "apologists." Why do you care?
Is the goal to enlighten her "fans" so that we no longer support Kayden, or better yet, "see her for who she really is"? If so, why?
Proud to be duped (if you are correct),
Hays
hi guys... can you help me where can i find the first video of kayden kross after her girls gone wild debut for free?

Thanks for the info Glenn. Part of my degree was economics and I know what you mean both economically and in matters of the heart. Grant, you continue to baffle me but I guess it's balanced to have opposition around even if you go on about the same philosophical difficulty without, in the end, being terribly logical; if you followed your own logic and advice you wouldn't waste your time being here; so, who or what you are is, annoyingly, fascinating. Good points from everyone else. Well said Hays.
ok.sorry!!so where can i can buy your videos...and alslo what is the title of your first video?
Beware. This Kayden comment is not Kayden Kross and someone is impersonating her. And any one who knows and has read KK's blogs would know she doesn't or wouldn't write like this.
I'm not sure if responding to Kayden inpersonator has any value at all. Best to ignore him or her.
